Opportunity
The Process Engineer is responsible for process engineering activities within investment projects managed by the Engineering department in Manufacturing. They act as project managers during the pre-study phase, including scoping, planning and estimating investments, as well as preparing investment request documentation prior to project approval.
They also work as members in projects as responsible for process engineering activities, where they are responsible for the planning and quality of their own work and ensuring these fulfils the applicable rules and regulations together with company policies.
This role requires travel, remote work and collaboration with internal and external departments or companies.
Dimensions of the job:
The Process Engineer impacts the safety, reliability, sustainability and profitability performance of the business through supporting the execution of projects dedicated to improving at least one of these four areas. They support by developing the technical solutions within process engineering in selected investment projects managed by engineering and are also managing the pre-study phase of investments projects.
The Engineering project group works in close collaboration with all parts of the business both commercial and engineering.
They will be responsibility for the technical solutions within the Process Engineering for selected investment projects managed by Engineering.
• Verify and assure the reliability of process solutions in projects.
• Participate in engineering projects as a Process Engineer as allocated by the Head of Process Engineering.
• Take responsibility for planning and quality control of process activities within a project.
• Provide technical guidance to other process engineers in their daily activities, including
preparation of project deliverables such as calculations and drawings etc.
• Provide technical support for the procurement of process equipment, including equipment specifications.
• Develop and improve the process engineering team’s working methods and tools.
• Develop and improve process execution philosophies and procedures as well as design and technology philosophies.
• Assists with technical support beyond pure project activities, such as troubleshooting, capacity testing, advice on maintenance, continuous improvement, HAZOP support etc.
The Process Engineer plays a crucial role in developing effective and safe solutions within their discipline area for the investment projects that are required to fulfil the safety, reliability, sustainability and profitability objectives of the manufacturing group in support of companies strategic goals.
The ideal candidate will possess a good understanding of process and engineering in a refinery petrochemical environment, including the quality and safety aspects of process design. They will also have a good ability to organise and prioritise, good communication skills, and an ability to work well within a team.
Key requirements:
The Process Engineer has:
• Demonstrated relevant experience in process engineering within the process industry, refining, petrochemical industry, or a similar field.
• Degree and hopefully Master of Science in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• Proficiency in process design calculations (pressure drop, equipment sizing, PSV
dimensioning etc).
• Familiarity in development of Heat and Material Balance as well as PFD, PID. • Familiarity with process simulation tools (HYSYS) is advantageous.
• Experience in HAZOPs (HAZOP -leader is meritorious, but not essential). • Experience in SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) for documentation is a plus.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Team, etc.)
