Senior Quantity Surveyor
Contract role

Hybrid 2/3 days on site per week 
Inside Ir35 - Umbrella/PAYE only 
London/South East

Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a dynamic commercial team delivering major infrastructure projects within the rail, highways, or aviation sectors. The role requires strong NEC contract knowledge and hands-on experience managing commercial aspects from tender through to final account. You will be responsible for cost control, contract administration, procurement, subcontractor management, and commercial risk mitigation. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and supply chain partners, you will ensure projects are delivered profitably, compliantly, and to the highest standards. The role demands excellent communication and negotiation skills, the ability to manage multiple work packages, and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving commercial issues. Mentoring junior staff and supporting continuous improvement in commercial processes will also be key aspects of the role.

Skills:
Extensive knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4)
Proven experience in rail, highways, or aviation infrastructure projects
Strong commercial and contract management skills
Cost control, forecasting, and budget management
Subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and management
Preparation and agreement of valuations, variations, and final accounts
Risk and change management including compensation events
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management
Ability to lead and mentor junior commercial staff
Proficient in commercial reporting and financial analysis
Software/Tools:
CEMAR (or similar contract management software)
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Cost planning and forecasting tools
Certifications & Standards:
Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying or related discipline
Membership or working towards membership of RICS, CIOB, or similar professional body
