Job Description

SharePoint Platform SME - Manchester - 5 days a week onsite

£45,000 - £50,000

We are seeking an experienced SharePoint Platform SME to take ownership of a critical enterprise SharePoint environment. This role will act as the technical authority for the SharePoint platform, ensuring the stability, performance, and ongoing development of both on-premises and cloud-based solutions. The successful candidate will play a key role in platform support, troubleshooting complex issues, and leading upgrade and migration initiatives, including the transition from SharePoint 2019 to SharePoint Subscription Edition.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the SharePoint platform.
Provide 3rd Line support for complex SharePoint-related incidents and service requests.
Support, maintain, and optimise SharePoint Server 2019, SharePoint Subscription Edition, and SharePoint Online environments.
Lead platform upgrades, patching activities, and migration projects.
Manage and support SharePoint Search services, ensuring optimal search performance and user experience.
Troubleshoot platform, infrastructure, and application issues across the SharePoint estate.
Work closely with infrastructure, security, and application teams to maintain platform availability and performance.
Monitor platform health and implement best practices for governance, security, and operational excellence.
Produce and maintain technical documentation, standards, and support procedures.
Provide technical guidance and expertise to stakeholders and project teams. 

Skills & Experience

Strong hands-on experience supporting SharePoint Server 2019.
Experience with SharePoint Subscription Edition (SE).
Knowledge of SharePoint Online / Microsoft 365 environments.
Proven experience administering and supporting large-scale SharePoint farms.
Strong understanding of: 
SharePoint Search Services
Managed Metadata Services
User Profile Services
Content Databases
Distributed Cache
Experience troubleshooting complex SharePoint platform and infrastructure issues.
Knowledge of Windows Server, IIS, and supporting SharePoint technologies.
Experience delivering SharePoint upgrades, migrations, and platform improvements.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
