Location: East Riding of Yorkshire
Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full-time, Days

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and ambitious Shift Manager (Days) to join a fast-paced food manufacturing site in the East Riding area. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone ready to take the next step in their career, offering the chance to develop within a supportive, forward-thinking environment.

Reporting directly to the Factory Manager, you will be responsible for delivering the daily production plan in a cost-effective, efficient and safe manner, ensuring all work is completed in line with customer specifications, food safety, hygiene and health & safety standards. You will play a key role in managing and developing a multi-skilled team, driving continuous improvement and ensuring that operational performance meets and exceeds agreed targets.

Key Responsibilities

You will lead your team to deliver the daily production plan, ensuring productivity, yield and service targets are achieved. You will take responsibility for maintaining the highest standards of Health & Safety, Food Safety and Good Manufacturing Practice across your area, conducting safety tours, risk assessments and investigations where necessary. You will manage KPIs including labour efficiency, waste, and quality performance, implementing corrective actions and improvement initiatives as required.

Working closely with other departments such as HR, Engineering and Technical, you will ensure effective communication and collaboration to achieve site goals. You will support, coach and develop your team members, promoting engagement and accountability, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement using Lean and Kaizen methodologies. You will also play a key role in identifying and delivering cost-saving and process improvement projects to drive site performance.

About You

We are looking for a hands-on and proactive leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced production environment. You should have proven experience within the food manufacturing or FMCG sector, with a strong understanding of health & safety, food safety and quality standards. You will be confident in managing people, developing talent and driving operational performance, while maintaining excellent communication and organisational skills.

Ideally, you will hold a qualification in Food or Business Management, along with IOSH Managing Safely or an equivalent Health & Safety qualification. Level 3 or 4 Food Safety and HACCP qualifications are highly desirable, along with experience working in a unionised environment.
