Site Agent – Earthworks & Groundworks (Highways)

Location: Oxfordshire

Employment Type: Permanent (open to contract depending on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Overview

Red Sky Personnel is recruiting on behalf of a leading contractor for a major highways project in Oxfordshire. We are looking for an experienced Site Agent with a strong background in earthworks and groundworks to support delivery across key packages.

Key Responsibilities

Lead bulk earthworks operations including cut & fill, soil stabilisation, and ground remediation

Oversee drainage installation, service diversions, and associated groundworks

Manage subcontractors, plant, and logistics to ensure efficient site operations

Ensure compliance with environmental and material management regulations

Drive programme delivery, identifying risks and maintaining progress against programme

Review and implement RAMS and safe systems of work

Work closely with commercial and planning teams on cost and progress tracking

Maintain accurate site records, reporting, and documentation

Requirements

Proven experience delivering earthworks and groundworks packages on highways or major infrastructure projects

Strong understanding of bulk excavation, ground improvement, and drainage systems

Experience managing high-volume material movement and logistics

SMSTS, CSCS (Black or Gold), and First Aid

Experience working under NEC contracts

Strong leadership, coordination, and problem-solving ability

Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree preferred
