Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer to support the final stages of a large-scale commercial construction project in Bridgwater.

The scheme is a major development involving RC frame construction and extensive groundworks, now progressing into finishing and close-out phases. This role will focus heavily on quality assurance, finishing works, and final setting out, ensuring the project is delivered to the highest standards.

The Role

As Site Engineer, you will play a key role in the final delivery and quality control of the project, supporting site management and subcontractors to ensure all elements are completed accurately and in line with specifications.

This position is well suited to an engineer who is confident working independently, with a strong eye for detail and experience in both structural and groundworks phases.

Key Responsibilities

  * Setting out for final works, including externals, finishes, and remedial works

  * Carrying out QA checks and inspections across completed packages

  * Producing and maintaining accurate as-built records

  * Identifying and resolving defects and non-conformances

  * Supporting snagging and handover processes

  * Interpreting drawings and ensuring works meet required tolerances

  * Liaising with subcontractors, site management, and technical teams

  * Ensuring compliance with health & safety and quality standards

Requirements

  * Proven experience as a Site Engineer / Setting Out Engineer

  * Strong background in RC frame and groundworks projects

  * Experience in finishing stages / QA / snagging highly desirable

  * Valid CSCS card (essential)

  * Ability to work independently and manage own workload

  * Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
