The Role
We are recruiting a Site Manager to join a leading construction company specialising in sports facilities. The role is based in the Leeds area and involves managing on-site groundworks contracts, including the construction of artificial sports pitches, MUGAs, and other sports surfaces.
You will be responsible for supervising site teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Site Manager to lead technically challenging and varied projects.
Key Responsibilities
*
Manage day-to-day operations on site, including labour, subcontractors, and plant machinery.
*
Oversee the construction of sports pitches and multi-use games areas (MUGAs), including groundworks, drainage, foundations, and surface installation.
*
Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and site safety protocols.
*
Read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
*
Liaise with clients, designers, and internal teams to maintain project schedules.
*
Monitor progress, manage resources, and report to senior management.
*
Conduct quality control and ensure completed works meet contractual and technical standards.
*
Support site handovers and snagging processes.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
*
Proven experience managing groundworks projects, ideally in sports surface construction (3G pitches, MUGAs, athletics tracks).
*
Strong technical understanding of civil engineering works, drainage, and engineered base construction.
*
Experience managing teams and subcontractors on site.
*
Knowledge of health & safety regulations on construction sites.
*
Ability to read and work from drawings and specifications.
*
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
*
CSCS card or equivalent, valid for UK construction sites.
