Site Manager
My client, a leading civil engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced Site Manager to join their team on a major wastewater treatment project.
Site Manager Responsibilities
*
Manage the day to day delivery of wastewater treatment and associated civil engineering works, ensuring all activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with programme requirements.
*
Oversee site operations including reinforced concrete works, drainage, pipework installation, utilities, mechanical and electrical interfaces, and associated infrastructure works.
*
Lead and coordinate Site Engineers, Foremen, operatives, subcontractors, and suppliers, promoting a collaborative and high-performing site environment.
*
Ensure labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors are effectively managed to achieve project milestones and maintain productivity.
*
Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with project specifications, drawings, RAMS, permits, and company procedures.
*
Work closely with the Project Manager, commercial team, designers, client representatives, and M&E teams to resolve technical and operational issues.
*
Monitor project progress, identify risks and opportunities, and implement mitigation measures to maintain programme and budget targets.
*
Carry out regular inspections to ensure quality assurance procedures are followed and that works comply with project specifications and industry standards.
*
Promote a strong health, safety, environmental, and quality culture, ensuring full compliance with company policies, water industry regulations, and current legislation.
*
Oversee site documentation including progress reports, site diaries, inspection records, quality records, permits, and programme updates.
*
Support commercial activities by identifying variations, monitoring site costs, and contributing to project reporting and forecasting.
*
Participate in site meetings, toolbox talks, and coordination meetings with internal and external stakeholders.
Site Manager Requirements
*
Previous experience working as a Site Manager on wastewater treatment, water treatment, utilities, or major civil engineering infrastructure projects.
*
Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction techniques including reinforced concrete, drainage, buried services, pipework, and deep excavations.
*
Experience managing subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams on complex infrastructure projects.
*
Good understanding of temporary works, confined spaces, permits to work, and health & safety requirements within the water sector.
*
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction programmes.
*
Strong planning, leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
*
Knowledge of NEC contracts and project delivery processes is advantageous.
*
Excellent understanding of health & safety legislation and industry best practice.
*
Black CSCS Card.
*
SMSTS qualification is essential.
*
Temporary Works Supervisor.
*
First Aid at Work qualification is desirable.
*
EUSR Water Hygiene card is desirable.
*
HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) is preferred.
