Site Manager – Demolition & External Works | Ilkeston | Freelance

Location: Ilkeston, Derbyshire
Rate: £350–£390 per day PAYE, dependent on experience
Contract type: Freelance | 3–4 months
Start date: Immediate

The Company
An established main contractor is seeking a standalone Site Manager to oversee a demolition and external works package on a commercial building in Ilkeston. This is a freelance opportunity offering an immediate start for the right candidate.

The Role
Working as the standalone Site Manager on site, you will report into a visiting Contracts Manager and take full responsibility for the day-to-day running of the works. The scope includes removal of existing brickwork and cladding to an existing wall, along with associated repair works, so previous experience of demolition, strip-out, or external refurbishment works is essential.

Key responsibilities include:

  * Managing all on-site operations from mobilisation through to completion

  * Overseeing demolition works, including brickwork and cladding removal to an existing wall

  * Managing associated repair works following removal

  * Coordinating subcontractors, plant, and deliveries on a standalone basis

  * Ensuring compliance with health & safety, RAMS, and demolition-specific safety requirements

  * Managing site security, welfare, and logistics

  * Reporting progress, issues, and programme updates to the visiting Contracts Manager

  * Maintaining accurate site records and documentation

About You

  * Proven experience as a Site Manager, ideally on demolition, strip-out, or external works projects

  * Comfortable working autonomously as a standalone Site Manager

  * Valid Black/White CSCS card essential

  * SMSTS and First Aid essential

  * Strong organisational and communication skills

  * Able to start immediately
