Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee a £50m expansion project for a well-known ice cream manufacturer in Gloucester. This significant upgrade involves a complete rebuild of the factory’s mix plant, installation of advanced blending systems, commissioning of new high-speed production lines, and the installation of new silos. The role requires managing both external works and internal fit-out activities on a live site, reporting directly to a site-based Project Manager.

The successful candidate will have proven experience in food-related construction projects and be comfortable working on live environments. The role demands strong leadership, coordination of subcontractors, and ensuring compliance with health and safety, quality, and programme requirements. The project starts in the first week of September and is scheduled for completion in March 2027. The role requires flexibility to work some Saturdays.

The daily rate is between £300 and £340, paid via an umbrella PAYE scheme only.

Skills:

Proven experience managing food-related construction projects
Experience working on live sites
Strong leadership and team management
Excellent communication and stakeholder management
Ability to manage subcontractors and site logistics
Health and safety compliance expertise
Programme and quality control management
Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
Ability to work some Saturdays
IT literacy for site reporting and documentation

SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)
First Aid Certificate
CSCS Card
Temporary Works Certificate
Asbestos Awareness Certificate
Software/Tools:

Common site management and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, site diary software)
