Your new role
Hays Education are seeking an experienced Site Supervisor or Caretaker to join our schools site team based in Preston. In this role, you will support the smooth running of the school by assisting with all aspects of site management, including health and safety compliance, site security, cleanliness, porterage duties, routine maintenance and minor repairs.
Please note: This is an ongoing temporary part-time position to start ASAP, working the afternoon shift from 1pm until 5pm (20 hours). Some flexibility may also be required.
As part of the recruitment process, full educational vetting is required. A DBS registered on the Update Service would be highly advantageous, although we can support you in obtaining one if needed.
Duties include
Day to day supervision of the operational areas, ensuring the buildings and premises are kept to a high standard of cleaning and repair and are safe for all users.
Following training to undertake legislative compliance tests and inspections i.e., fire alarm, legionella, emergency lighting etc.
Act as a keyholder, carrying out security procedures for the buildings and grounds.
Undertake some cleaning tasks, which include window cleaning, corridor and floor buffing.
Drawing the attention to maintenance work required around the premises, either supporting minor maintenance internally or organising contractors on site where appropriate.
Ensuring that all areas are free from litter and that drains and gutters are free flowing.
Undertake maintenance, redecoration and refurbishment of grounds and buildings as necessary
Carry out routine compliance checks for fire alarms, boilers, water and batteries.
Carry out procedures in the event of a fire, floor, break-in etc.
Prepare the premises and site for any events or activities.
Set up and remove furniture as required.What you'll need to succeed
A relevant vocational qualification in site management or facilities management, or equivalent experience ideally within a school setting
A good knowledge of health and safety regulations and procedures
A good knowledge of building maintenance and repair techniques
A good knowledge of security systems and equipment
A flexible and proactive approach to work, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressureWhat you need to do now
