Job Description
We are recruiting experienced Street Cleaners to work with a South Yorkshire Council on an initial 3-month assignment, with the potential for extension.
Location: Barnsley and surrounding areas
Hours: 37 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Monday – Thursday 06:30 – 14:30 | Friday 06:30 – 14:00
Main Duties:
* Carry out general street cleansing duties in varying weather conditions
* Litter picking, de-weeding walls, gutters, and pathways
* Keeping streets, pavements, and public areas clean and tidy
* Driving council vehicles (vans/light goods vehicles) as required
* Operating and carrying out daily checks on relevant cleansing equipment
* Reporting any vehicle or equipment faults promptly to management
* Working safely and efficiently to maintain high standards across the district
Essential Criteria:
* Previous experience in street cleansing, grounds maintenance, or similar outdoor operational roles
* Full UK driving licence (manual vehicles – held for at least 2 years preferred)
* Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
* Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
