Overview
Our client, a Tier 1 Defence engineering business, is seeking a Stress Engineer with hands-on experience in aluminium fabrication and structural analysis. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-performance defence components in a technically demanding and collaborative manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in structural validation, conducting linear and non-linear FEA, and supporting the design and production teams to ensure the structural integrity and manufacturability of lightweight aluminium assemblies.
Key Responsibilities
Perform detailed Linear and Non-Linear Finite Element Analysis (FEA) on aluminium structures and assemblies.
Support the design and optimisation of lightweight aluminium fabrications used in defence applications.
Use ANSYS (or similar FEA software) to verify models, interpret results, and provide recommendations to design and manufacturing teams.
Apply Eurocode standards and relevant defence specifications in all analysis and documentation.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to resolve design challenges and ensure manufacturability.
Contribute to continuous improvement across analysis and validation processes.
Key Requirements
Degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering (or related discipline).
Proven experience working within a manufacturing or production engineering environment.
Practical experience performing FEA (Linear and Non-Linear) using ANSYS or equivalent.
Strong understanding of aluminium fabrication and metal structures.
Familiarity with Eurocode standards and documentation practices.
Desirable Experience
Knowledge of weld design, fastening techniques, fatigue, or buckling analysis.
Background in defence, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing sectors.
Experience with large deformation or dynamic simulations.
