Job Description
Sub Agent – Civil Engineering / Infrastructure
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Sub Agent to support the successful delivery of civil engineering works on a busy site. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to step up or further develop their career within a well-structured project environment.
Working closely with the Site Agent and Project Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Site Agent with RAMS reviews, ensuring all works are carried out in full compliance
* Deliver site inductions for operatives, supervisors, and visitors, ensuring all competencies and medicals are valid
* Lead daily briefings and maintain clear communication with the workforce
* Maintain accurate site diaries, including labour, plant, and materials records
* Conduct H&S inspections and audits, identifying risks and supporting resolution
* Report incidents, near misses, and positive interventions in line with company procedures
* Deliver toolbox talks to promote a strong safety culture
Permitting & Compliance
* Issue and manage permits including breaking ground, hot works, confined space, and temporary works
* Ensure all works are properly permitted and compliant at all times
Plant & Equipment Management
* Maintain the PUWER register and ensure all plant documentation is up to date
* Verify thorough examination certificates and ensure compliance
* Manage plant reception, tagging, and site records
Lifting Operations
* Support lift planning and ensure all lifting activities comply with agreed plans
* Maintain the LOLER register and ensure all lifting equipment is certified and tagged
* Supervise lifting operations to ensure safe execution
Commercial & Planning Support
* Raise material requisitions and Early Warning Notices (EWNs)
* Liaise with commercial, H&S, and environmental teams to ensure smooth project delivery
* Attend and contribute to planning meetings, pre-starts, and client walkarounds
* Support short-term planning and lookahead programmes
Requirements
* Previous experience in a Sub Agent or Senior Engineer role within civil engineering
* Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and site compliance
* Experience with permits, RAMS, and site documentation
* Good communication and organisational skills
* Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
