Freelance Sub Agent - Highways (Civils) 12‑Month Contract | £360 - £380 per shift | Peterborough
Role Overview
A freelance Sub Agent is required to support the delivery of highways and civils projects in the Peterborough area. This role suits an experienced site leader with strong civil engineering knowledge, capable of driving programme, quality and safety across multiple work fronts.
Key Responsibilities
Lead site teams including engineers, operatives and subcontractors to ensure successful delivery of works.
Develop short‑term programmes aligned with the overall contract programme and communicate them clearly to the delivery team.
Record as‑built information, track change items and monitor progress against planned outputs.
Identify and record change in accordance with NEC contract requirements.
Provide technical support and guidance to site engineering teams.
Ensure all works comply with the Works Specification and are delivered safely, following behavioural‑based safety principles.
Maintain accurate site diaries and records.
Deliver site inductions, daily briefings and ensure all operatives and subcontractors have the correct documentation to work safely.
Experience & Skills Required
Strong civil engineering background with proven experience supervising highways works.
Experience across earthworks, drainage and structures.
Solid commercial awareness to support cost control and change management.
Effective leadership and team‑management skills with the ability to influence and motivate.
Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
Highly organised, able to prioritise and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
