Are you someone who brings patience, empathy, and genuine care to the young people you support? We are looking for a nurturing Teaching Assistant to work closely with secondary-aged pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and may have experienced trauma.
This is a role where relationships matter. We will be motivated and enthusiastic, and have a reassuring presence, helping pupils feel safe, valued, and understood so they can re-engage with learning and begin to thrive.
In this role, you will:
* Build trusting relationships with pupils who may be anxious, withdrawn, or dysregulated
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support in the classroom and beyond
* Help young people develop confidence, resilience, and emotional regulation
* Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals
* Create calm, structured, and predictable routines that help pupils feel secure
We’re looking for someone who:
* Is patient, compassionate, and calm under pressure
* Sees behaviour as a form of communication
* Understands (or is eager to learn about) trauma-informed and nurturing approaches
* Is a team player who brings warmth, positivity, and a sense of humour
* Truly believes that every young person can succeed with the right support
