Job Description

TeacherActive is proud to be supporting a welcoming primary school in the Medway area in their search for a dedicated Year 2 Teaching Assistant to join their team from January 2026.

This rewarding Teaching Assistant role involves working closely with a pupil who is primarily based in her own learning space outside the mainstream classroom, with short, structured transitions into the main Year 2 setting. The student has a diagnosis of autism and thrives with a calm, consistent adult who can build trust, provide clear routines, and deliver personalised support.

This Teaching Assistant role will include:

Providing 1:1 support tailored to the pupil’s individual needs

Creating a positive, nurturing environment that supports emotional regulation

Delivering short, focused learning activities and interventions

Supporting gradual integration into the classroom in line with agreed plans

Liaising with the class teacher and SEND team to deliver consistent support

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who:

Has experience supporting children with autism or SEND

Is patient, calm, and able to build positive relationships

Can follow structured plans while also responding to the student’s needs

Is committed, reliable, and passionate about helping children succeed
