Teaching Assistant - Southampton
Prospero Teaching is looking for a driven and supportive Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming school in Southampton. This is a long‑term position providing in‑class support, small‑group assistance, and general help across the school day.
You'll work closely with teachers to ensure lessons run smoothly, help pupils stay engaged, and provide additional guidance for children who need extra support. The Role:
Support teachers during lessons across different subjects
Work with pupils 1:1, in small groups, or as part of the whole class
Assist with learning tasks, activities, and classroom routines
Help pupils stay focused and confident during lessons
Encourage positive behaviour, independence, and engagement
Prepare and organise classroom resources where needed
Create a supportive, inclusive, and calm learning environmentIdeal Candidate:
Experience working with children (school, tutoring, childcare, youth work, mentoring, etc.)
Patient, positive, and confident supporting varied needs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Adaptable and enthusiastic about day‑to‑day school life
Happy to work across different year groups when needed
Graduates in psychology, education, child development, or similar fields encouragedContract Details:

Hours: Full‑time, term‑time
Pay: £14.66-£15.66 per hour
Contract: Long‑termExperience, Training & Safeguarding:
Experience with children is desirable
