Job Title: Technical Software Documentation Officer
Location: Bristol (5 days per week on-site)
Duration: 12 months (plus extension)
Rate: £65 per hour (via Umbrella)
About the Role
An exciting opportunity for a proactive and organised Technical Software Documentation Officer to support several software development teams within a leading defence organisation. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys multi-tasking, coordinating technical activities, and being at the centre of software delivery and project management.
You'll play a key part in helping development teams plan, document, configure, and deliver fully qualified software products - ensuring compliance with high-reliability and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Support multiple projects through the full software lifecycle.
Maintain and manage software documentation, configuration data, and release records.
Interface directly with software engineers, project leaders, and test teams.
Assist with planning, coordination, and delivery of integration artefacts.
Ensure all software activities meet internal and regulatory process standards.
Support process improvement and drive adherence to best practices across teams.
About You
Background in software process or lifecycle management within a regulated or safety-critical environment (e.g., defence, aerospace, automotive, or medical).
Understanding of software engineering principles and project management processes.
Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
Confident communicator, comfortable liaising across multiple teams and departments.
Enthusiastic about working in software and open to future progression into project management.
