Job Description

Technical Lead   Strong on welding and fabrication? Be the technical authority behind high-integrity components in one of the most demanding, highly regulated manufacturing environments there is.   This is a Technical Lead role with a respected precision manufacturer.   As a Technical Lead you will be the go-to technical expert for the manufacture of high-integrity components in a highly regulated environment, with welding and fabrication at the very heart of the role. This is a hands-on technical authority role with no direct reports, so your focus stays firmly on the engineering itself, root cause analysis, specifications, and solving the problems that keep complex, regulated manufacturing on track. There is also real scope to help shape the future of the operation, supporting the move towards higher-volume, faster-turnaround manufacturing and developing the processes to make it happen. The business is looking specifically for someone with deep welding and fabrication expertise to lead this area with authority, backed by strong machining and metallurgy knowledge. With a long-term, secured order book behind it, this is a stable, senior role where your expertise genuinely carries the operation.   Job Responsibilities Acting as the lead technical authority for welding and fabrication across the manufacture of high-integrity components Providing engineering solutions across welding, fabrication and CNC machining Leading root cause analysis and resolving complex welding, fabrication and manufacturing problems Setting and reviewing welding and fabrication methods to meet the acceptance criteria of a highly regulated industry Supporting the development of higher-volume, reduced-cycle-time manufacturing and the processes to enable it Reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, including complex geometries and tight tolerances Supporting new product introduction, design changes and manufacturing strategy Developing and improving engineering processes, procedures and change control Managing non-conformances through robust rework procedures and demonstrating product compliance Raising and controlling technical queries, production permits and concessions Driving cost saving, continuous improvement and defect reduction on the line Acting as a technical point of contact for suppliers, clients and internal teams  Skills and Experience To succeed as a Technical Lead you will need: Strong, demonstrable welding and fabrication experience, which is the priority for this role A solid machining and manufacturing background gained in a precision engineering environment Metallurgy experience and a good understanding of high-integrity materials The ability to act as the technical authority on welding and fabrication and lead root cause analysis on complex problems Confidence reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications to recognised standards Experience of working within a highly regulated, high-integrity manufacturing environment An interest in developing manufacturing processes to improve volume and reduce cycle times A degree in an engineering or technical discipline Strong communication skills, able to hold technical discussions with clients, suppliers and internal teams A self-motivated, methodical approach, leading through expertise rather than line management  Pay and Benefits As a Technical Lead you will receive: A salary up to £60,000 depending on experience A company pension with 3% contribution 25 days holiday plus bank holidays A Christmas shutdown of up to 5 days Access to a health and wellbeing platform The stability of a business with a secured, long-term order book A senior, hands-on technical role with real authority and influence  Ready to apply? Roles offering this level of technical authority, in an environment this demanding and this stable, do not come along often. If you are an engineer with genuine welding and fabrication expertise, this is a chance to own that area outright, help drive the operation towards higher-volume, faster manufacturing, and shape how high-integrity work gets done, all with a secured order book behind you. If you are ready to step up as the Technical Lead, this is one to act on. Apply now
