Technical Manager - Structural, Civil & Temporary Works Edinburgh First People Solutions is working with a well-established, UK-wide multidisciplinary consulting engineer with a strong reputation for delivering technically challenging projects. With a network of offices across the UK, they bring together expertise across structural and civil engineering, geotechnical, environmental, transportation, planning, water, and health & safety services. They are now looking for an experienced Structural / Civil Engineering Technical Manager to join their Edinburgh team. The Role This is a senior technical leadership position with a strong focus on temporary works and temporary structures, alongside wider civil and structural engineering You'll lead the technical delivery of projects from initial planning and design through to site delivery and close-out, coordinating multidisciplinary inputs and working closely with clients, contractors and internal teams You'll provide technical oversight across temporary structures, access arrangements, roads, car parking, drainage, water supply and earthworks, while ensuring designs are robust, compliant and delivered to a high standard Key Responsibilities Lead, coordinate and review structural and civil engineering outputs, particularly temporary works and temporary structures Oversee temporary works design, review and coordination Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs across structural, civil, geotechnical, transportation and other specialist teams Lead project reviews, client meetings and stakeholder workshops Carry out technical audits, risk reviews and design checks Manage project deliverables, budgets, proposals and invoicing Attend sites and provide technical support during project delivery About You You'll be an experienced Structural or Civil Engineer with strong technical and project leadership experience, ideally with a background in temporary works, temporary structures or specialist engineering projects. You'll ideally have: A degree and chartered status Significant civil / structural experience from a UK design engineering consultancy Strong experience in temporary works design, review and/or coordination Experience with temporary or specialist structures would be highly advantageous Strong knowledge of UK design standards and regulatory requirements. Excellent communication, client and stakeholder management skills. The ability to lead and review technical work while supporting more junior engineers What's in it for you?
