Are you an experienced Money Adviser or debt advice professional looking for an opportunity to make a real difference?
We are recruiting on behalf of a respected organisation seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Money Adviser to join its specialist team on a 12-month maternity cover contract.
This is a rewarding role supporting individuals who may be experiencing financial hardship, debt problems, rent arrears or wider challenges that place their housing security at risk. The successful candidate will provide practical, person-centred advice and guidance, helping clients improve their financial position and work towards long-term stability.
The role:
You will manage your own caseload, working with individuals facing a range of financial difficulties. Using your knowledge of debt advice and financial support options, you will assess circumstances, identify appropriate solutions and provide tailored support.
You will work closely with colleagues and external agencies to help clients achieve sustainable outcomes while maintaining accurate records and delivering a high-quality service.
Key responsibilities
• Provide specialist debt and money advice to clients experiencing financial difficulties, rent arrears and multiple debts
• Manage an active caseload, carrying out detailed financial assessments and agreeing realistic action plans
• Support clients in understanding their options and accessing appropriate debt solutions
• Negotiate with creditors and other organisations on behalf of clients where appropriate
• Deliver advice in a compassionate, professional and non-judgemental manner
• Promote financial wellbeing, income maximisation and tenancy sustainment
• Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, support services and partner agencies
• Undertake home visits where required
About you:
The ideal candidate will have significant experience providing debt advice, money advice or managing complex financial casework.
You will be comfortable working with vulnerable individuals and able to communicate clearly and sensitively in often challenging circumstances.
You will also have:
• A strong understanding of debt solutions, welfare benefits and financial hardship support
• Excellent communication, interviewing and negotiation skills
• The ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise effectively
• Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
• A resilient, empathetic and customer-focused approach
• Good IT skills and experience maintaining case management records
Requirements
• GCSE English and Maths, or equivalent
• A full UK driving licence
• Flexibility to work outside normal office hours where required
