Trainee Laser Operator & PackerLocation: Newport, Shropshire

Working Hours: 08:00 - 4.30pm Mon - Thurs and Fri 8 - 3.30pm with 30 min lunch
Location: Newport, Shropshire (Public transport routes are not viable)
Pay: £12.71 

We’re looking for a reliable Trainee Laser Operator & Packer to join our client's busy engineering team in Newport. This is an temp role with the potential for longer‑term opportunities, for the right candidate.

About the role
You’ll support the Laser Operator on the shop floor, helping to finish, inspect and pack products as they come off the laser machine. This is a hands‑on role where accuracy, care and teamwork really matter.

Key responsibilities
Inspecting, finishing and polishing products using hand tools

Supporting the Laser Operator with day‑to‑day production tasks

Completing job cards and day sheets accurately

Reading and understanding engineering drawings

Carrying out visual and tolerance checks

Boxing and packing products to required standards

Keeping your work area clean, tidy and safe

Learning laser machine operation for holiday/absence cover

What we’re looking for
Experience in production, manufacturing or metalwork

Confidence using hand tools and working to fine tolerances

Good attention to detail and pride in quality

Ability to follow instructions and work independently once trained

Positive attitude and strong team ethic

Open to overtime to support
