Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Transport Manager to lead a busy multi-drop transport operation based in Brighouse, supporting a national distribution network. Reporting to the Operations Director, you'll be responsible for ensuring transport operations are safe, compliant, efficient and customer-focused while leading a team of drivers, planners and site leaders.

About the Role

As Transport Manager, you'll oversee the day-to-day operation of the transport function, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, on time and to the highest standards of customer service. You'll work closely with operational teams across multiple locations to drive consistency, improve efficiency and support the continued growth of the business.

You'll also play a key role in developing your team, maintaining legal compliance, managing fleet performance and identifying opportunities to reduce costs while improving service levels.

Key Responsibilities

  * Lead and develop the transport, planning and site teams, creating a positive, high-performing culture.

  * Manage daily transport operations, ensuring efficient route planning and excellent customer service.

  * Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, driver hours, vehicle maintenance and health & safety requirements.

  * Oversee fleet performance, maintenance planning and vehicle availability.

  * Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, service levels and cost performance.

  * Work collaboratively with customer service and other departments to resolve delivery issues and improve the customer experience.

  * Monitor operational performance through KPIs, ensuring high standards of delivery reliability, compliance and team engagement.

About You

You'll be an experienced transport professional with strong operational knowledge and proven leadership skills. You'll be confident managing change, developing people and balancing commercial priorities with outstanding customer service.

Ideally, you'll have:

  * Experience managing transport operations within a multi-drop distribution environment.

  * A strong understanding of UK transport legislation and compliance.

  * Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.

  * Experience managing fleet operations and transport planning.

  * A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency and customer satisfaction.

  * A Transport Manager CPC qualification (desirable).
