We are looking for a Transport & Allowances Officer to join the Access to Learning Team within Children's Services. You'll help organise school transport for Plymouth students, many of whom have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
No two days are alike. Plans can change quickly and you'll need to think on your feet to ensure students get where they need to be safely and on time.
What you'll be doing
Planning and coordinating school transport routes across Plymouth and surrounding areas
Using planning software to produce cost-effective routes that meet transport guidelines
Responding to a high volume of calls as part of a shared team rota
Working with schools, transport providers, parents and colleagues to resolve issues quickly
Making decisions when unexpected changes arise
Ensuring transport arrangements are accurate and up to date
What we're looking for
Strong customer service skills
Confidence handling high volumes of telephone enquiries
Good knowledge of Plymouth, local road networks and surrounding areas
Experience using Microsoft 365 applications
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Calm approach when working in a fast-paced environment
Experience of MRI Education would be beneficial, although training will be provided.
This is a 37-hour per week role, Monday to Friday.
This role is hybrid, with one day in the office per week and additional office attendance required in line with business needs. The remaining days can be worked remotely.
