The London Borough of Hackney's Children and Families Service is seeking a dedicated Unit Coordinator to ensure the smooth, efficient, and well-organised running of a key social work unit.
This is more than just an administrative role; you will be the vital central point, coordinating all unit processes and supporting our social workers who protect vulnerable children and their families.
What You Will Be Doing:
As the Unit Coordinator, you will be crucial to operational success by:
System Management: Setting up and maintaining all systems and processes necessary for the unit's smooth running.
Frontline Support: Acting as the first point of contact for complex and/or contentious enquiries from the public, staff, and families, dealing sensitively with those who may be in distress.
Financial & Logistical Coordination: Efficiently processing and managing financial payments to families (e.g., petty cash, purchase orders) and arranging key appointments and transport for families.
Statutory Compliance: Maintaining systems for key statutory requirements (like child protection visits and children's reviews) and alerting the team to due dates.
Information Management: Servicing the weekly case planning meeting, taking minutes of professional meetings, drafting routine correspondence, and maintaining confidentiality.
Focus Area: Disabled Children's Service
We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled Business Support Officer to specifically join our Disabled Children's Service.Previous experience working in Social Care within Disabled Children's Services and/or knowledge of the Mosaic system are highly desirable and would be a significant advantage.

Organised and Systematic: With the ability to manage competing priorities, think systematically, and meet demanding deadlines.
Customer Focussed: Possessing excellent communication skills and the ability to deal with staff and the public sensitively and appropriately.
Knowledgeable: With an understanding of the statutory requirements of Children's Social Care and the need to respect confidentiality.
Technically Proficient: Highly skilled in IT, including Microsoft Office packages, to produce accurate data in various formats.This role is Grade SC6 and requires an Enhanced DBS disclosure. Hackney is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.
