Salary: £39,000 – £41,000 (depending on experience)

Vehicle Mechanic (GSE / HGV / LGV) -The Opportunity
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Vehicle Mechanic to join a busy workshop team based at Glasgow Airport. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced operational environment, working on a wide range of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) including towing tractors, aircraft tugs, baggage elevators and other specialist vehicles full training given This role would suit candidates with experience in HGV, LGV, plant, or commercial vehicles who is Level 3 qualifed in Vehicle Maintenance and repair city and guilds or NVQ equivalent and are looking to apply their skills in a unique and varied environment.
Vehicle Mechanic (GSE / HGV / LGV)- Key Responsibilities
Carry out maintenance, servicing, and repairs on GSE and associated vehicles
Diagnose faults accurately and identify required repairs and parts
Complete inspections, brake tests, and smoke tests, reporting any defects
Maintain accurate job cards and inspection documentation at all stages
Communicate effectively with the Workshop Supervisor regarding progress and additional work
Ensure all parts are correctly ordered, booked, and stored
Work independently, including outdoors in varying weather conditions
Participate in the on-call rota
Vehicle Mechanic (GSE / HGV / LGV)- Health, Safety & Compliance
Work safely at all times, following all Health & Safety regulations
Use PPE, tools and equipment correctly
Report hazards, defects, near misses and incidents promptly
Support compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards
Follow company environmental and waste management procedures
Vehicle Mechanic (GSE / HGV / LGV)- About You
Essential:
Proven experience working as a Vehicle Mechanic on commercial vehicles, plant, LGV or HGV
City & Guilds qualification in Motor Mechanics (or equivalent)
Strong mechanical and fault-finding skills
Full UK driving licence
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Good understanding of workshop health & safety
Desirable:
Welding experience
Electrical and hydraulic knowledge
Experience working on GSE or specialist vehicles
Additional Requirements
Right to work in the UK
Ability to obtain an airside pass (including criminal record check and 5-year employment history verification)
Ability to provide certification for all qualifications
Vehicle Mechanic (GSE / HGV / LGV)- Working Hours
Monday to Friday, rotating shifts:
06:00 – 14:30 (2 weeks)
08:00 – 16:30 (2 weeks)
On-call rota: 1 week in 4 (includes one weekend per month)
£15.75 per day standby payment
Call-outs paid at 1.5x (minimum 4 hours)
