We are recruiting a workshop controller on behalf of our client, a leading commercial vehicle service provider based in Manchester, Greater Manchester. Benefits: Competitive basic salary between £45,000 and £55,000 per annum Bonus scheme based on workshop performance 4 on, 4 off shift pattern from 6:00am to 6:00pm Opportunity to lead and develop a busy commercial vehicle workshop Company pension scheme with enhanced employer contributions Sick pay scheme Loyalty holiday scheme Personal development and training programmes Death in service benefit for pension scheme members Cycle to Work scheme Enhanced maternity and paternity benefits Career progression within a leading industry sectorDuties of a Workshop Controller: Manage the daily operations and performance of the commercial vehicle workshop Oversee delivery of high-quality workmanship, ensuring minimal rectification and customer complaints Maximise technician productivity and workshop utilisation Monitor labour efficiency and address any under performance Coordinate the handover of complex or contentious jobs with customers Ensure compliance with manufacturer processes, health and safety legislation, MOT regulations, and VOSA standards Maintain a safe and professional working environment Supervise workshop team members, including technicians and support staff Monitor KPIs and ensure departmental targets are achieved Assist with the planning and allocation of workloads Support continuous improvement and ensure adherence to industry best practicesRequirements of a Workshop Controller: Proven experience as a workshop controller, workshop supervisor, or workshop manager within the commercial vehicle or heavy vehicle sector Knowledge of VOSA requirements and MOT testing procedures Understanding of Operators' Licence legislation and compliance standards Relevant technical qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Motor Vehicle Technology or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance Strong leadership and organisational skills Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal Ability to work effectively under pressure and make confident decisions Good IT skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Prior management experience within a busy workshop environment is essentialIf you are an experienced workshop controller, workshop supervisor, or senior technician seeking your next career challenge, we invite you to apply for this position today.
