Job Description

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for X2 Data Centre Engineers on a 12 Month Contract, based in Reading.

Role Summary

We are seeking 2 x Data Centre Engineers to support installation, commissioning, and decommissioning activities within a live data centre environment in the Reading area. The role requires hands-on experience with Nokia and Virgin Media infrastructure, rack installation, structured cabling, and fibre deployment.

Key Responsibilities

  * Installation of 1U, 22U, and 40U cabinets

  * Installation and positioning of data centre racks and cabinets

  * Installation, testing, and decommissioning of fibre optic cabling

  * Commissioning and decommissioning of network and telecoms equipment

  * Working with Nokia and Virgin Media hardware and infrastructure

  * Cable management, labelling, and documentation

  * Rack build and equipment mounting

  * Patch panel installation and patching activities

  * Working within live data centre environments following change control procedures

  * Maintaining health & safety and data centre operational standards]

  * Experience in Surveying route for cabling.

Requirements

  * Proven experience working as a Data Centre Engineer

  * Experience installing 1U, 22U, and 40U cabinets

  * Experience working with Nokia equipment

  * Experience working with Virgin Media equipment

  * Experience installing and decommissioning fibre optic cabling

  * Experience installing data centre racks and cabinets

  * Experience with commissioning and decommissioning cable infrastructure

  * Strong cable management and labelling standards

  * Ability to work within live production data centre environments
