Young Person’s Worker – Across London
We are currently recruiting for a Young Person’s Worker to join a semi-independent housing support service for young people in London. This role focuses on providing accommodation and tailored support to help young people progress towards independence.
Position Details:
*
Hours: 37.5 per week (rota basis, Monday–Sunday)
*
Shifts: Early (8am–3:30pm), Mid (11am/12:30pm–8pm), Late (3pm–10:30pm)
*
Weekends: 2 on, 2 off
*
Contract: Temporary (approx. 2–3 months, with potential extension)
*
Pay: £14.85 per hour + £1.79 holiday pay = £16.64 per hour
Key Responsibilities:
*
Hold a caseload of 4 young people, conducting key working sessions and co-producing support/safety plans.
*
Produce high-quality risk assessments and management plans.
*
Assess referrals to ensure suitability for the project.
*
Provide safe, welcoming accommodation and ensure new residents feel supported and informed.
*
Assess young people’s needs to identify appropriate move-on options.
*
Safeguard young people by identifying and escalating concerns appropriately.
*
Work with social workers to support family reunification or move-on to suitable accommodation (PRS, supported, or self-contained).
*
Support young people with benefits, rent collection, and minimising arrears.
*
Organise and run activities that build independence and life skills.
*
Support young people into education, training, or employment opportunities.
*
Carry out health and safety responsibilities.
Please note: this role involves lone working.
Requirements:
*
Experience working with young people.
*
Knowledge of Ofsted principles for supported accommodation and how to apply them.
*
Experience working with young people with mental health, attachment needs, self-harm, or emerging personality disorders.
*
Experience using trauma-informed and attachment-focused approaches in practice.
*
Strong background in key working, risk assessments, and support planning.
*
Experience supporting young people in developing life skills and engaging in meaningful activities.
*
Understanding of “Every Child Matters” and how it applies in practice.
*
Knowledge of welfare benefits for under 21s, rents, and service charges.
*
Strong numeracy and written communication skills (letters, reports, minutes).
