Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Location: Central Belt (Bathgate base)
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 + car allowance
Contract Type: Full-time
Framework: High-volume NEC Option B projects

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our growing commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their QS career who is eager to develop within a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Working alongside Senior Quantity Surveyors, you will support the commercial delivery of multiple NEC Option B projects, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of schemes. This role is ideal for someone who is keen to learn, takes initiative, and is looking to build a strong foundation in commercial management.

Key Responsibilities

  * Assist in the commercial management of multiple NEC Option B projects (ranging from £5k to £1m in value).

  * Support with cost control, forecasting, and reporting across a high-volume framework.

  * Prepare and assist with valuations, variations, and final accounts.

  * Help ensure compliance with NEC processes and contractual requirements.

  * Work closely with Senior QS team members to deliver commercial objectives.

  * Maintain accurate records and support with contractual documentation and correspondence.

  * Liaise with operational teams to support day-to-day commercial activities.

  * Proactively follow up on actions, queries, and project requirements.

  * Contribute to the improvement of commercial processes and templates.

What We’re Looking For

  * A proactive and enthusiastic individual with a strong willingness to learn.

  * Some experience in a Quantity Surveying role (placement year or post-graduate experience desirable).

  * Basic understanding of NEC contracts (preferred but not essential).

  * Good organisational skills and attention to detail.

  * Ability to manage workload across multiple projects with support.

  * Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.

  * A positive attitude and a desire to develop into a fully qualified Quantity Surveyor.
