Assistant Site Manager - New Build Housing
We are currently recruiting an experienced Freelance Assistant Site Manager to support the delivery of a large-scale new build residential development in Nottingham
This is an excellent opportunity to join one of the UK's leading housing developers, working on a high-quality mixed-tenure scheme delivering affordable housing, private sale properties, and sustainable communities. You will be part of an experienced site management team, playing a key role in ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the exceptional quality standards expected by the business.
Location: Nottingham
Contract: Freelance
Duration: minimum 2 weeks - ongoing
Start Date: Monday 17th August
Rate: £250.00 - £260.00 per day
The Role:
Working closely with the Site Manager, you will assist in the day-to-day management of the construction programme, coordinating subcontractors, monitoring quality, and maintaining the highest standards of health and safety throughout the build process.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the Site Manager with the daily management of all on-site operations.
Coordinating subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with the construction programme.
Monitoring build quality and ensuring all works comply with NHBC standards, technical specifications, and company procedures.
Undertaking regular quality inspections and proactively managing snagging and defect resolution.
Promoting a positive health and safety culture through site inspections, inductions, toolbox talks, and compliance monitoring.
Assisting with programme management to ensure key milestones and handover dates are achieved.
Maintaining accurate site records, including progress reports, site diaries, inspections, and permits.
Supporting NHBC inspections, internal audits, and client visits.
Assisting with plot completions and ensuring homes are delivered to an exceptional standard.
Building strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, technical teams, and commercial colleagues to ensure successful project delivery.
Candidate Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a proven track record working as an Assistant Site Manager on volume housebuilding or partnership housing developments and will be confident working within a fast-paced construction environment.
You will possess:
Previous experience as an Assistant Site Manager delivering new build residential developments.
Strong knowledge of modern housebuilding methods, sequencing, and quality standards.
Experience managing multiple subcontract trades across various stages of the construction programme.
A thorough understanding of current health and safety legislation and best practice.
Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
The ability to identify issues early and implement practical solutions to maintain programme objectives.
A collaborative approach with the ability to support and motivate site teams.

Valid CSCS Card
