Job Description

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a children’s educational & residential provider across Shropshire to look for Residential Support Workers / RSW. These therapeutic provisions house small numbers of children and young people between the ages of 11 - 18, who have been diagnosed with EBD (Emotional Behavioural Difficulties) and SEMH (Social Emotional Mental Health), or complex trauma needs.

We are looking for a Residential Support Workers / RSW to work alongside us in supporting these childrens residential homes. This residential provider adopts an ethos that is child focused, while understanding that children will thrive when they feel safe and secure. A focus on providing consistency and continuity, ensuring at all times that children’s wishes are heard and respected.

The successful Residential Support Worker / RSW will have:

Level 3 QCF Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential

Driver’s licence - Use of on site vehicles

Experience of working with children with complex needs within a residential setting

Effective characteristics and personality to handle challenging situations

Ability to lead and share best practice to the wider team

What's involved with the role?

To know, understand, implement, and model the Providers structure of therapeutic care to provide a safe, caring environment to enable the emotional, social, and educational development of children, through individual attention and group activities.

To work as part of a team under the direction of the Registered Manager (RM) to ensure that our young people receive the highest standards of therapeutic care to develop to their full potential.

To support with various tasks to maintain the household, including driving, cooking, cleaning etc.

At all times to promote the safeguarding and welfare of the children.
