Job Description

Our client Trafford council is looking for a Children's Social Worker to join their Emergency duty team.

Duties

Provides emergency social work support for children and families outside normal office hours
Responds to urgent safeguarding concerns, child protection referrals, and crises
Undertakes risk assessments to ensure children's immediate safety and welfare
Makes emergency decisions regarding accommodation or protection of children
Works closely with police, hospitals, and other emergency services
Attends emergency strategy discussions and safeguarding meetings
Supports children at risk of harm, abuse, neglect, or family breakdown
Arranges emergency placements for children when required
Provides advice and support to professionals and families during crises
Maintains accurate records and handovers for daytime social work teams
Ensures all actions comply with safeguarding legislation and local authority procedures
Manages high-pressure situations and makes timely, informed decisions to protect children and young people
