About the Role
This exciting opportunity has arisen to join an active, motivated, and highly engaged Commercial team working at the forefront of delivering defence capability to the UK Armed Forces and international customers.
This role places you in a sector that spans early product lifecycle activities, research and technology, and direct customer engagement.
You’ll play a key role across both Business Winning and Contract Delivery, helping secure new opportunities while ensuring the client meets its contractual commitments.
This is a dynamic, collaborative environment where strong communication, commercial acumen, and relationship-building are essential.
Key responsibilities:
Business Winning
* Play a central role in securing new contracts and opportunities.
* Support the full route to contract, including bidding activities and proposal generation.
* Work cross-functionally to gather inputs and ensure proposals maximise the Company’s position.
Contract Delivery
* Support the delivery chain to ensure contractual obligations are met.
* Conduct contract management tasks, including change management, problem solving, and administration.
* Represent the Commercial team in progress reviews and customer meetings.
* Commercial Operations & Stakeholder Engagement
* Conduct negotiations, ensuring contractual compliance within agreed boundaries.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers and industry partners.
* Act as a key interface with internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
* Manage day-to-day administration and upkeep of Commercial Information Systems.
* Promote best practice and contribute to functional excellence.
* Work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment.
What You’ll Need:
We’re seeking a high-performing individual who brings a blend of commercial expertise, communication skills, and practical problem-solving ability, with experience across a broad range of commercial activities. Ideally, you will demonstrate:
* Advanced negotiation and interpersonal skills.
* Strong process and change management capability.
* Experience managing complex and high-value contracts.
* Effective team behaviours and the ability to influence across functions.
* Solid contract management experience throughout the contract lifecycle.
* Broad commercial understanding from customer to supplier.
* Awareness and practical application of Intellectual Property principles.
* Good knowledge of contract law and its application.
* Ability to draft and amend terms and conditions.
* Understanding of liabilities, risk mitigation, and commercial governance.
* Awareness of import/export controls and licensing requirements.
* Ability to interpret and use pricing and costing models.
* Good working knowledge of IT and business tools, including SAP.
