Job Description

Planner – Tier 1 Main Contractor
Salary: £40,000–£50,000 + Car Allowance + Bonus
Location: Northampton (Hybrid)
A leading Tier 1 main contractor is seeking an experienced Planner to join their expanding planning team. This multi‑disciplinary contractor delivers major industrial, logistics, commercial and infrastructure projects nationwide. You’ll take ownership of tender and live programmes, working closely with site teams to produce robust, buildable schedules across schemes typically valued £10m–£60m+.
Industrial Projects You’ll Work On
Major industrial and logistics schemes including distribution centres, cold stores, food production, manufacturing, engineering, parcel sortation, automotive, data centres and pharmaceutical/life sciences facilities.
The Role
Produce and manage tender and construction programmes
Work with site and pre‑construction teams to ensure realistic sequencing
Prepare tender programmes, logistics plans and build sequences
Present programme strategies at client and tender meetings
Carry out site visits, update schedules and report progress
Assess delays, variations and design changes with mitigation advice
Manage 2–3 live projects plus 1–2 tenders
Hybrid role: office, site and home working
The Right Person
  * Planner experience with a main contractor (non‑housing)
  * Strong understanding of construction sequencing and delivery
  * Able to provide practical, build‑focused input into programmes
  * Confident communicator with strong stakeholder skills
  * Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  * Proficient with Asta Powerproject / Primavera
  * Relevant qualification (ONC/HNC, BEng, NVQ) or equivalent
  * Within a reasonable commute of Northampton
