Design and Technology Teacher – Resistant Materials

About the Role

Local Education are recruiting an experienced and innovative Design and Technology Teacher specialising in Resistant Materials to join a forward-thinking secondary department. The successful candidate will deliver engaging and practical lessons that develop creativity, technical knowledge, and independent problem-solving across Key Stages 3 and 4.

This position offers a temp-to-perm opportunity for a teacher who thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys inspiring students through hands-on learning experiences. Key Responsibilities

  * 

    Plan and deliver high-quality Design and Technology lessons with a focus on Resistant Materials.

  * 

    Support students through the design process from concept to completion, encouraging creativity and accuracy.

  * 

    Ensure a safe and organised working environment in all practical sessions.

  * 

    Assess and monitor student progress, providing constructive feedback and guidance.

  * 

    Contribute to departmental planning and curriculum development.

  * 

    Promote enthusiasm for design, engineering, and technology in the classroom.

Requirements

  * 

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification.

  * 

    Experience teaching Design and Technology, ideally specialising in Resistant Materials.

  * 

    Strong understanding of design principles, manufacturing processes, and workshop safety standards.

  * 

    Excellent communication and classroom management skills.

  * 

    Ability to engage students of all abilities and foster a love for practical learning.
