Job Description

We are seeking a highly professional and experienced Grounds Maintenance Manager to lead and support our Grounds Maintenance service for a period of up to six months.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and qualified individual to oversee a large operational workforce, drive service standards, and make a meaningful impact within a fast-paced local authority environment.

  * Location: Wade Road Depot, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG24 8PL

  * Rate: £43.00 per hour (Umbrella)

  * Contract: 6 Months +

  * Working Arrangement: Fully On-Site (No Hybrid)

Key Responsibilities:

  * Lead and manage the Grounds Maintenance team across the borough

  * Ensure high-quality service delivery and compliance with standards

  * Conduct regular site visits and oversee operational activities

  * Communicate effectively with internal teams, contractors, and the public

  * Quickly learn and adapt to internal systems and processes

You will have:

  * A qualification in horticulture or a related discipline

  * A proven track record of managing a large Grounds Maintenance workforce

  * A strong customer-focused approach

  * Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  * The ability to pick up new systems quickly

  * A proactive attitude and desire to make a positive difference

  * A full driving licence

This position is fully based at the Wade Road Depot, with site visits forming a key part of the role. Please note that hybrid working is not available due to the operational nature of the position.
