Job Description

A welcoming and values-driven Primary school is looking for a dedicated, skilled, and nurturing Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join their team this September. This is a varied and rewarding role, with mornings spent supporting in class, including delivering phonics groups, and afternoons covering lessons across the school. What we’re looking for You’re someone who: Loves working with children and wants to help them thrive Can confidently lead small groups and whole-class sessions Brings energy, patience, and a positive outlook Thinks on your feet and supports learning in the moment Builds strong, trusting relationships with children and families Works well as part of a team and contributes to a shared vision Adapts your approach to meet different needs and reflects on your practice Champions and celebrates children’s achievements Experience delivering phonics, particularly Read, Write, Inc., and previous whole-class teaching experience would be a real bonus. The details Hours: Flexible, based on 8.30 - 15.30 each day Contract: Term time only + 5 INSET days Start: September 2026 Safeguarding The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All staff are expected to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be subject to enhanced DBS checks and relevant safeguarding vetting. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position.
