The Role
Become the go-to expert for all IT training needs across the business to cover Portsmouth, Fareham and Southampton offices. You’ll be delivering clear, high-quality support in a variety of formats—whether through detailed documentation, engaging video guides, personalised 1-to-1 sessions, or dynamic group training.
You will take ownership of the Learning Management System (LMS), overseeing the creation, organisation, and administration of learning materials that empower staff to develop their skills with confidence.
As an IT Trainer, you’ll bring strong interpersonal skills, confidence, and clarity to every interaction. You’ll adapt your training style to suit different learning levels and personalities, ensuring every member of staff feels supported—whether you’re working independently or as part of a collaborative team.
You’ll be proficient in a range of applications, including:
1. Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
2. Microsoft Teams (including Teams Telephony)
3. Digital Dictation (desirable, not essential)
4. Case Management Systems (desirable, not essential)
5. Common business applications such as Adobe tools, web browsers, and screen-capture utilities like Snipping Tool.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver high-quality IT training to staff at all levels, including new starter inductions, through a range of formats such as:
* Personalised 1-to-1 training (in person or remote)
* Departmental or group training sessions (in person or remote)
* Regular floor-walking across all branches to provide hands-on support
* Coordinating external training venues or courses when required
* Develop, manage, and enhance the Learning Management System (LMS), including:
* Creating clear, accessible documentation
* Producing engaging video guides
* Designing quizzes to measure understanding
* Gathering insights through surveys and feedback tools
* Collaborate with departmental “Buddies” to continuously improve training content and documentation by:
* Updating training leads on system or process change
* Revising training materials to reflect updated departmental workflows
* Act as a “Train-the-Trainer” resource—staying ahead of new technologies and processes to ensure effective onward training for staff.
* Partner with IT Developers on new initiatives and process improvements, creating training materials aligned with development sprint launches.
* Support IT Developers in producing UAT checklists for new tools, features, and processes.
* Maintain accurate training records in collaboration with HR.
Compliance
* Ensure full compliance at all times with professional obligations relevant to the role of IT Trainer, including those issued by:
* The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA)
* The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)
* Adhere strictly to the SRA Accounts Rules, and promptly notify the COFA if aware that any actions may constitute a breach.
* Maintain awareness of obligations under the SRA Codes of Conduct, striving for full compliance, and immediately report to the COLP if any potential breaches are identified.
* Comply with the Firm’s Money Laundering Policy as it pertains to the responsibilities of an IT Trainer.
