About the Role
Recruitment Solutions (NW) Ltd is recruiting an experienced Electrical & Mechanical Engineer to support a specialist manufacturing client on a 6 month contract. While the role is heavily electrical, you will also carry out mechanical work where required. This is a practical, hands on position focused on wiring, electrical maintenance, fault finding, machinery repair and supporting production through efficient breakdown response.
Key Responsibilities:
Electrical (primary focus):
* Perform wiring, rewiring, installation and modification of electrical systems
* Diagnose faults quickly and carry out repairs to minimise downtime
* Rebuild and repair motors, electrical components and control systems
* Conduct electrical testing, inspection and preventative maintenance
* Support production by resolving electrical issues on machinery and equipment
Mechanical (secondary but required):
* Assist with mechanical breakdowns and general machine repairs
* Carry out strip downs, rebuilds and replacement of mechanical parts
* Perform routine mechanical maintenance as required
* Support engineering improvements related to both mechanical and electrical systems
General:
* Maintain clear and accurate maintenance logs and documentation
* Follow all safety procedures and ensure equipment is operated safely
* Work closely with production and engineering teams to keep machinery running efficiently
Experience & Skills Required
* Strong electrical engineering background in a manufacturing or industrial setting
* Skilled in wiring, fault finding, diagnostics and electrical repairs
* Experience responding to breakdowns and working on production machinery
* Hands on experience with motors, control systems and electrical components
* Competent in basic mechanical maintenance, repairs and machine rebuilds
* Ability to read electrical diagrams and mechanical drawings
* Knowledge of safe working practices, electrical regulations and lock out procedures
* Practical, proactive and able to work independently
* No formal degree required, hands on experience is essential
