Project Engineer – Water Industry (Mechanical)
GRS are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to lead and deliver engineering schemes and maintenance works across water and non-infrastructure projects. This role covers everything from mechanical design coordination and client communication to site installation, testing, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
*
Develop mechanical scopes of work and prepare accurate estimates in collaboration with clients and internal teams
*
Oversee full project delivery including mechanical design reviews, site surveys, installation, inspection, and commissioning
*
Manage mechanical subcontractors and suppliers, including reviewing technical quotes, verifying specifications, and approving H&S documentation
*
Produce and implement mechanical pre-construction plans, commissioning plans, and project handover documentation
*
Lead technical meetings with clients, consultants, and design teams to resolve mechanical engineering issues
*
Maintain accurate project records including mechanical drawings, O&M manuals, and all associated documentation
*
Prepare and submit quotations, progress updates, and HSEQ paperwork to clients
*
Support training and development initiatives and contribute to a positive on-site safety culture
Candidate Requirements
Essential:
*
Proven experience as a Mechanical Project Engineer
*
HNC/HND or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering
*
CSCS Gold Card and SMSTS
*
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
*
NVQ or equivalent in a core mechanical trade
*
Experience delivering mechanical works in the water/utilities sector
*
Knowledge of commissioning procedures, O&M documentation, and subcontractor management
