Outreach Worker | Loughborough, Leicestershire | Full Time | £13.12 per hour
Our client is a registered charity and a specialist women and girls’ organisation dedicated to supporting survivors of domestic abuse.
They are seeking a compassionate and committed Outreach Worker to join their Lotus support services team, providing advice, guidance, and informing survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence.
The successful candidate may, from time to time, undertake voluntary work for the Outreach Service, which is also included within this remit.

Are you the right person for the job?
You will have:
An understanding of domestic abuse and sexual violence, and the ways in which this can affect individuals, including children
Experience of working in a paid or unpaid capacity with a support and information service
Experience in leading group programmes
A basic empathy with people who have experienced abuse
Experience in using basic IT programmes, email and the internet
An ability to compose reports, case notes and letters with a good standard of grammar and punctuation
An understanding of the importance of accurate, timely record keeping and data collection in a role of this type
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Experience of working under some pressure and managing a varied workload effectively
An understanding of the need to work methodically and flexibly in a post of this kind
An ability to use own initiative, and to make appropriate decisions within boundaries set by the line manager and organisational policies and procedures
An understanding of the importance of confidentiality in a role of this kind
Experience in establishing and maintaining good relationships with a wide variety of people
Commitment to equal opportunities practice
Driving licence, business insurance, and the ability to travel across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland
What will your role look like?
As a member of the Lotus Service Team, your responsibilities will include:
Providing information and options to enable service users to make informed decisions, including advice on:
Safety planning
Legal rights and remedies, including introductions to appropriate professional legal services
Welfare benefits
Housing options
Further education and leisure opportunities
Offering support to service users:
Completing any necessary documentation
Acting as an advocate on benefits, maintenance payments, housing, legal matters, etc.
Accessing refuge and court support
Assisting with tenancy issues, resettlement services, and housing solutions
Networking with relevant statutory and voluntary sector services to limit homelessness or disruption due to domestic abuse
Leading on group support programmes, including the Freedom Programme, Unbroken, and Unbreakable
Resettling client families leaving refugee accommodation into new surroundings
Providing emotional support and making referrals to other relevant agencies where appropriate
Creating and maintaining accurate client records, including:
Risk assessments
Safety planning
Needs assessments and Individual Support Plans (ISPs)
Ongoing review of needs assessments and ISPs based on continuing risk assessments
Formal documented review of all actions taken in response to needs assessments
Updating and maintaining computerised case records
Promoting the work of LWA and raising awareness of domestic abuse and sexual violence through talks, formal training, and advertising campaigns
Maintaining appropriate confidentiality in all aspects of work, including correspondence, databases, and statistical records
Attending LWA meetings to advise on service issues, report developments, and contribute to discussions affecting the organisation and its clients
Working collaboratively as part of a team and contributing to the overall development of the Outreach Service
Maintaining good working relationships with outside agencies and referring to specialist services when necessary. Keeping up to date with current legislation and developments relating to domestic abuse
Participating in training (internal or external) as identified by yourself or your Line Manager
Attending meetings, conferences, and forums on behalf of LWA, where appropriate
Actively implementing and adhering to all LWA policies and procedures to ensure the smooth operation of the Outreach Service
Supporting the aims and objectives of the organisation and assisting Directors, staff, and volunteers to provide the highest standards of service for clients
