Job Description

SEMH Teaching Assistant – Secondary School

Location: South Yorkshire
 Contract: Full-time / Part-time
 Start Date: ASAP
 Salary: £110–£120 per day (dependent on experience)

Key Responsibilities

Supporting small groups of students (typically up to 5) with SEMH needs. Assisting pupils in managing behaviour and emotional regulation. Helping students stay engaged with learning and complete set tasks. Building strong, positive relationships as a consistent and trusted adult. Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams to implement support strategies. Providing feedback on student progress and behaviour.

What We’re Looking For

Experience working with young people, ideally those with SEMH or behavioural needs. A calm, patient, and resilient approach. Strong behaviour management and communication skills. Ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries. A proactive and supportive attitude. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
