Are you a resilient, compassionate, and proactive individual with a passion for supporting young people? Teaching Personnel are seeking a strong SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream secondary school in the Accrington area. This is an excellent opportunity for someone experienced in supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs who thrives in a dynamic school environment.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support to students with SEMH needs
Help students regulate emotions, build confidence, and develop coping strategies
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
Support behaviour management and create a calm, positive learning atmosphere
Contribute to personalised learning plans and interventions
Build trusting relationships with students to help them reach their full potential
What We’re Looking For

We are seeking candidates who are:

Experienced in working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional needs
Confident, patient, and emotionally resilient
Able to remain calm under pressure
Excellent communicators with a nurturing approach
Willing to adapt and think creatively to meet individual needs
Available full-time from June 2026
A background in youth work, mentoring, care, sports coaching, or psychology is highly valued.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
