SEND Teaching Assistant - Wellingborough Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire Start Date: September 2026 Contract Type: Full-Time | Permanent Pay: Competitive salary, dependent on experience Are you passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them feel confident, included, and successful at school? We are working with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Wellingborough that is looking to appoint a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join its team from September 2026 on a full-time, permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is caring, patient, and passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning. You will work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and the wider support team to provide targeted support to pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them to access the curriculum and make meaningful progress. The Role Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEND within the mainstream classroom Supporting children with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH, and learning difficulties Helping pupils access lessons through differentiated activities and individualised support Supporting children with literacy, numeracy, phonics, and wider curriculum activities Helping pupils develop confidence, independence, communication, and social skills Implementing strategies and support plans in line with individual pupil needs Encouraging positive behaviour and helping children develop effective learning routines Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and managing challenges in a calm and consistent manner Working closely with teachers and the SENCO to monitor progress and identify areas where further support may be required Creating a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every pupil feels supported Supporting pupils during break times, lunchtimes, and wider school activities where required This Role Could Be Ideal If You Are passionate about supporting children with SEND Are considering a career in teaching, SEND, child development, educational psychology, or pastoral support Have previous experience working with children or young people with additional needs Want to gain specialist SEND experience within a mainstream primary school Have worked in education, childcare, care, youth work, coaching, or a similar child-focused environment Enjoy helping children overcome barriers and celebrate their individual progress Are looking for a permanent role where you can develop your skills and build a long-term career We Are Looking For Someone Who Is patient, caring, and understanding Has a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs Can build positive and trusting relationships with pupils Has strong communication and interpersonal skills Is calm and consistent when managing challenging situations Can adapt their approach to meet individual pupil needs Is reliable, proactive, and works well as part of a team Is confident working alongside teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals Has experience supporting children with SEND - desirable but not essential What the Role Offers A full-time, permanent SEND Teaching Assistant position starting in September 2026 The opportunity to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Wellingborough Valuable experience supporting pupils with a range of SEND needs A supportive and collaborative team of teachers and education professionals Competitive salary, dependent on experience Free access to over 2,500 CPD-accredited courses through The National College Ongoing support from a dedicated education recruitment consultant Excellent career development opportunities within SEND, primary education, teaching, and pastoral support Develop Your SEND Skills with Tradewind As a Tradewind Teaching Assistant, you'll have free access to over 2,500 CPD-accredited courses through The National College, giving you the opportunity to develop your knowledge and progress your career alongside your role.
