Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Services Consultancy
Flexible / Office-Based (with site visits)
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

Summary:
An excellent opportunity has become available for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a growing building services consultancy delivering projects across multiple sectors. This role offers the chance to take full ownership of mechanical design projects, manage client relationships, and play a key role in delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions. You’ll also support junior team members and contribute to a collaborative, multi-disciplinary design environment.

The Role:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for leading mechanical design across a range of projects, from initial concept through to completion. You’ll act as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  * 

    Lead and manage mechanical design projects from planning through to completion

  * 

    Represent the business at client and design team meetings

  * 

    Develop project briefs and project-specific design criteria

  * 

    Manage tender processes and contribute to cost planning and budget control

  * 

    Produce high-quality technical drawings, specifications, and performance calculations

  * 

    Coordinate mechanical services with wider building services and design teams

  * 

    Act as a client interface and project lead on selected schemes

  * 

    Support sustainability initiatives and collaborate with the sustainability team

  * 

    Assist and support the CAD team where required

  * 

    Review contractor design proposals and monitor performance

  * 

    Undertake site visits, surveys, and monitor project progress

  * 

    Maintain strong client relationships and support business development activities

  * 

    Support and mentor junior engineers within the team

  * 

    Engage in Continued Professional Development (CPD)

What We’re Looking For:

  * 

    Proven experience in mechanical design within a building services consultancy environment

  * 

    Strong understanding of UK building regulations and industry standards

  * 

    Experience managing projects and working directly with clients

  * 

    Ability to produce and review technical drawings and specifications

  * 

    Strong coordination skills across multi-disciplinary teams

  * 

    Commercial awareness with experience in budgets, tenders, and cost control

  * 

    Excellent communication and leadership skills
