Senior Planning Engineer – Pharmaceutical Projects
Location: Macclesfield - Hybrid Working
Salary: Up to £75,000 + Benefits
We’re currently supporting a well-established engineering organisation delivering complex capital projects across highly regulated industries. Due to continued growth within the pharmaceutical sector, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to support the successful delivery of major engineering and construction programmes.
This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the planning and scheduling of technically challenging projects within GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environments, working with multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
The Role As a Senior Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and managing detailed project schedules across a portfolio of pharmaceutical engineering projects. Working closely with project managers, engineering teams, and commercial stakeholders, you will provide accurate programme planning, progress monitoring, and schedule analysis throughout the project lifecycle.
You will play a critical role in identifying risks, managing programme changes, and ensuring projects maintain alignment with key milestones and delivery targets.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using industry-standard planning software (e.g. Primavera P6 or similar).
Support project teams with programme development, schedule updates, and progress tracking.
Analyse programme performance and identify risks, delays, and opportunities for schedule optimisation.
Work closely with project managers and engineering teams to ensure realistic and achievable project timelines.
Prepare progress reports, planning documentation, and programme updates for internal and stakeholder review.
Support change management processes, including assessment of programme impacts.
Participate in project reviews, planning workshops, and schedule risk analysis.What We’re Looking For
Proven experience working as a Planning Engineer or Senior Planning Engineer on complex engineering or construction projects.
Experience within regulated industries such as pharmaceuticals, life sciences, nuclear, or similar highly controlled environments.
Strong proficiency with Primavera P6 or equivalent planning software.
Excellent understanding of project controls, scheduling methodologies, and programme management principles.
Ability to interpret technical information and translate it into structured project schedules.
