Job Description

The Client:
A respected and well-established construction contractor delivering a diverse portfolio of projects across the commercial, residential, education and public sectors throughout London and the South East. Known for their collaborative approach, technical expertise and commitment to quality, they continue to build on a strong reputation for successfully delivering projects from £1m to £20m in value. As part of their continued growth, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team.

The Role:
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll play a key role in leading the commercial management of multiple projects, ensuring financial control from procurement through to final account. You’ll be responsible for managing project budgets, cost forecasting, subcontractor procurement and contract administration, while supporting and mentoring junior members of the team. Responsibilities:

  * 

    Take full commercial responsibility for multiple live projects, ensuring profitability and cost efficiency.

  * 

    Prepare cost plans, budgets, valuations and final accounts.

  * 

    Lead subcontract procurement, tender analysis and contract negotiation.

  * 

    Manage project cash flow, valuations, variations and change control processes.

  * 

    Provide accurate monthly cost reports and forecasts to senior management.

  * 

    Liaise with clients, consultants and site teams to ensure commercial objectives are achieved.

  * 

    Oversee the preparation of contractual documentation and ensure compliance with company procedures.

  * 

    Mentor and support Assistant and Quantity Surveyors within the team.

  * 

    Contribute to business improvement and pre-construction activities as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  * 

    Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment.

  * 

    Strong commercial and contractual knowledge across a variety of construction sectors.

  * 

    Excellent negotiation, communication and analytical skills.

  * 

    Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and deliver under pressure.

  * 

    Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant contract administration software.

  * 

    Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related field.

  * 

    Based within commuting distance of London and the South East.
