We are recruiting for a dedicated and experienced Senior Support Worker on behalf of one of our clients who support young children and young people with special education needs and disabilities (SEND)
This is a rare and exciting opportunity ideal for someone with experience supporting both children and young adults in a senior supporting setting current or most recent.
The role is full-time and requires flexibility, including some weekend work and availability during school holidays. The position is split between three days of Senior Support and two days dedicated to administrative duties, ensuring high-quality care and efficient service delivery.
The Role:
To provide high-quality, nurturing, and consistent care to children and young people, supporting them to achieve positive outcomes in line with their individual care and support plans.
Lead shifts effectively, ensuring staff deployment, clear communication, and continuity of care.
Provide supervision, guidance, and support to the staff team while ensuring that the service maintains a safe, caring, and stimulating environment that promotes each young person’s welfare, independence, and development.
Assist with daily tasks such as personal care, meal preparation, transport, and recreational activities.
Contribute to the creation, review, and implementation of individual care and support plans.
Maintain detailed, accurate, and confidential records, including incident reports, daily logs, and progress summaries.
Support the service in meeting Ofsted (or equivalent regulatory) standards and organisational policies.
Ensure care practices reflect the Children’s Homes Regulations, Quality Standards, and the service’s Statement of Purpose.
Requirements:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Children & Young People’s Workforce / Residential Childcare is essential
Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children or young people in a residential, educational, or community setting is essential
NVQ Level 4 or 5 in Leadership and Management (Children’s Residential is desirable
Experience working with children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), autism, or additional needs is desirable
First Aid, Medication Administration, and Team Teach (or equivalent) training
Knowledge of Ofsted inspection frameworks and relevant legislation (Children’s Act 1989/2004, Working Together 2018, etc.).
Strong understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and child development.
